Catoctin Creek® was founded by Becky and Scott Harris in 2009, becoming the first legal distillery in Loudoun County since Prohibition. Located in Purcellville, Virginia, in the heart of the Loudoun Valley, Catoctin Creek is dedicated to Virginia's whiskey tradition, producing the state's most awarded whisky, Roundstone Rye.

The name "Catoctin," pronounced Ka-TOCK-tin, originates from the Indian tribal name "Kittocton," which is believed to mean "place of many deer." It refers to a mountain range and the creek that flows past the distillery into the Potomac River and Chesapeake Watershed.
